Bluff Parish of St Barnabas - The Beginning

By the year 1900 there were 9 families resident on the Bluff. Two of these families were prominent in the Anglican Church viz The Clarkson Family who owned the farm Wentworth  and the Jacobs family whose farm  is today known as Jacobs. These 2 families were generous to the  Anglican community and contributed significantly to the building of the first  church, . The year 1933 and the church served the Bluff and Clairwood communities. At that stage the Bluff came under Isipingo. The first recorded minutes of the Bluff church are dated 1926 and the incumbent priest Harris, Oberlin.  From 1955 Montclair retained the name of the Parish of Durban South and the Bluff became known as St Mary's and St Anne's.  In 1959 under the incumbent Philips Owen* the name changed to St Barnabas-Bluff.
