Today's gospel 
Mathew 10:34 - 11:1

In this discourse, Jesus seems to offer confusion, but at the depth of it, it's not confusion but truth. 

He speaks.
"Do not think I have come to bring peace on earth, I have not come to bring peace but a sword "

Yet, often Jesus says, "Peace be with you." And He is a Prince of Peace. 

He goes on to say.
"For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, ...."

In the world of conflicting ideologies and religious identities, to declare that one is following Jesus is to invite opposition, persecution and even death. 

To go with Christ is to enter into a new family. We need to pray for those who oppose Christianity, love and bless them. 

Let us pray. 

Lord Jesus Christ, help us to follow you no matter what the costs are, and the consequences might be. 

Amen
