4/6/25 Today's gospel John 17 v 11b to 19. We will call today's reading protection from the evil one. Here, Jesus prays for us, his followers to be protected from the evil one. He wants us here on earth to fulfill the mission that He assigned to us. He wants us to be witness to God's love and truth, to be sanctified through the truth so that we can be of service to God. He wants us to be the light in the darkness of the world. Finally, Jesus wants us to be truthful, which is essential for our sanctification and ability to bear witness to God's love in the world. The Lord's prayer is such an appropriate prayer. So, as Christ has taught us, we are bold to say. Let us pray. Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name. Your kingdom will come. Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
