Today's gospel 
 *Luke 24: 45-53*

 *Reflection*
Jesus "opened their minds to understand the scriptures." This highlights the importance of seeking deeper meaning in God's word and allowing the Holy Spirit to illuminate our understanding. The ascension of Jesus is a reminder of his victory over death and sin and his continued presence with his followers. It also highlights the hope of future glory and the promise of his return. 

 *Prayer*
Lord Jesus, please fill us with Your Holy Spirit and give us a deeper love for You and others that we might be made wise, and be empowered and inspired to tell others the good news about You: good news that Your Holy Spirit can use to lead others to a life-transforming faith in You, to becoming new creations that will understand your Asending and what it means to us as your followers.
