FEAST OF MARK THE EVANGELIST

Today's gospel 
Mark 1:1-15

Mark introduces Jesus as the Son of God. John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus, and then calls people to repent and be baptized. In his humility, John recognizes his role and points to Jesus.

During Jesus' Baptism, God affirms Jesus as His Son and the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus. That  empoweres Jesus  for His ministry. In that way, Jesus could resist the  temptation in the wilderness. He reminded obedient to the Father. 

May we be obedient to God, and resist the devil. May we be true ambassadors of Jesus Christ.

Let us pray 

Heavenly Father,  help us to have strong faith in Your Son Jesus Christ,  as our Lord and Saviour. May we invite others to recognize Him as such as John the Baptist did. Take this day and make it Yours.
