St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
02.09.24 Today's gospel Luke 4:16-30 The text is about Jesus' rejection at Nazareth, which is also a model for how He is often received by the world. The reading highlights His mission to bring salvation to the world. Jesus' message of Good News to the poor, release to captives, and sight to the blind, and so Jesus fulfills Isaiah's prophecy. The crowd initially receives Jesus with amazement and praise, but they soon turn on Him, rejecting His message. Jesus responds to the crowd's rejection by citing examples of God's work outside of Israel. Jesus' mission has to reach beyond the boundaries of Israel. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, help us to receive the message of Your Son Jesus Christ, and be part of His mission to reach the ends of the world. May Your Kingdom grow among and through us. Amen
