Mission Statement of St Barnabas Church St Barnabas is a community of Christians. We are committed to the love and worship of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, -the loving and caring of our neighbours and making of disciples Our Vision St Barnabas strives for excellence in spreading the Gospel to all people through empowerment by the Holy Spirit as a Christ centred church; caring for the poor and needy and creating fellowship amongst His people. In order to achieve the most effective pastoral care and to give practical expression to the mission of the church, pastoral ministry at St Barnabas will take place principally within the context of PASTORAL COMMUNITIES.
More specifically: We acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the empowering and guidance of the Holy Spirit in everything we do. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that its authority is decisive in all matters. We believe that prayer is a fundamental to all our activities and we commit ourselves to regular individual and corporate prayer, praise and listening to God. We of the church and as a community regard worship as the focal point to promote and encourage a variety of styles of worship for both public and private use. We are committed to equipping and motivating every member to use the opportunities open to them to tell people about Jesus Christ and to help them believe in Him. We are committed to growth of every member of the fellowship, by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit and by means of biblically based teaching and practice. We believe our faith should be worked out in active caring for our immediate community. We are concerned about the hurts and divisions of our society and are committed to actively mending relationships and practising the ministry of reconciliation. We recognise the power of materialism in our lifestyles and we seek to encourage a biblical perspective on the used and caring of the many resources entrusted to us. We are very concerned about how young people fit into our fellowship and are committed to specific activities to draw them into the whole life of the church.
