Today's gospel John 6 ver 1to15 This is a reading about turning the impossible into the possible... Jesus gives his disciples a massive task that they cannot handle. It seems to be an impossible task. Andrew gives the food to Jesus in the hope of a miracle. We must trust that God will always use resources for his purposes and care for our needs. One word is the answer to this story. FAITH... let us pray. Father God thank you for always caring for our needs. Thank you for your guidance and direction in our lives. Thank you for always being available for our prayers. AMEN.

Wednesday 10 April 2024 Today's gospel John 3 verses 16-21. This is such an important and deep reading...we can't begin to imagine how much God loved the world to give his son. His one and only son as a sacrifice. Secondly, through our Jesus, he offers us complete salvation from sin and condemnation. This was God's purpose to save us from death and hell. Finally, through our belief in Jesus we are granted eternal life. We have chosen light over darkness..... *Let us pray* Father God thank you for your hope and comfort...thank you for your love.. Thank you for being patient with us. We thank you for letting us choose light over darkness... Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
09.04.24 Today's gospel John 3:7-15 Jesus said to Nicodemus, "you must be born again." What does it mean to be? BORN AGAIN? *Some comments* Salvation is not human but spiritual, that is, experience of the Holy Spirit, change of mind, and taking away of the heart of stone. To be born again is to live a life of love, and conversion, have eternal life, children not born of the flesh but born of God Jn 1:13. *Let us pray* Lord Jesus Christ, help us to belief and confess that You are Lord and Saviour. May we do what is right as God’s children. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted. Do to others whatever we would like them to do to us. Amen. St. Barnabas Anglican, Bluff
08.04.24. Luke 1:26 - 38. This text is about the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary “Fear not, for nothing is impossible with God...... Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me _according to your Word.” My brothers and sisters, here are my key thoughts based on the text. Firstly, no matter what happens, never lose faith in God. Secondly, trust God's guidance for His plan. Mary had both of these qualities. *Let us pray* Lord increase our faith and trust in You. Amen. 06.04.24. Today's gospel Mk 16:9 -15 . *The Appearance of Jesus. * Mary Magdalene told the disciples her encounter with Jesus, but they expressed disbelief. *Then the Lord appeared to two of the disciples, * who told others about the experience of the Risen Lord, but still they expressed disbelief. *The Lord appeared to the eleven, * Jesus rebuked their disbelief. The other two were reports brought to the disciples while the third one is the eleven encountering the Risen Lord. The aim is to rebuke those who object to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, correcting their lack of faith and stubborn refusal to believe. *Let us pray. * Risen Lord, supply more evidence to arouse our faith. Your victory over all things is ours. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
05.04.24. Today's gospel. John 21:1-14 In the text, Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, the disciples went fishing and they caught nothing the whole night. It was only when Jesus directed them to cast the net into the deep that they caught plenty of fish. Jesus had breakfast with the disciples by the shore. Again, He showed Himself to them. *Let us pray* Lord Jesus Christ, fill our empty life with Your Risen life and nourish our souls with Your Word and Sacrament, the Body and Blood. Invites us to eat: ‘Breakfast is ready!’ to/from the abundant table ready - of fish, food, love, warmth, and great joy. The table where fractured relationships are healed. May we in turn nourish, heal and love those we meet today. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
04.04.24 Today's gospel. Luke 24:36 - 48 Types of faith in the text Luke. 1. Faith that needs assurance. In all our fears, anxieties, and confusion, Jesus stands like a parent to take us into His arms. We live fearful lives and Jesus comes to us to assure us of His peace. *He says peace be with you*. 2. Faith that requires us to share the experience with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Faith that feels into the feelings of others. Christ wants not only to be heard about but to be experienced or encountered on a personal level. *Let us pray* Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, help us, To walk together To talk together To go together on this journey of faith. May we be witnesses to Your Life of new things. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
Wednesday 3rd April 2024 Luke chap 24...verses 13 to 35. The road to Emmaus scripture teaches us that Jesus appears to us when we least expect it..even when we do not recognize him. He is with us..guiding us and showing us the way. It also teaches us that the breaking of bread is an important part of our faith. We remember Jesus through the sacrament of communion, and we also share his love by breaking bread with our family in Christ. Remember no matter how bleak things may seem...there is always hope even when we don't understand everything...we can trust that God has a plan for us. Bottom line...the road to Emmaus is a powerful story that teaches us about Jesus' love for us and the importance of faith. Hope and love. Let us pray. LORD Jesus, we thank you for your faith in us. Guiding and showing us the way in all that we do. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff
02.04.24 Today's gospel. John 20:11-18 Mary saw a man by the tomb of Jesus and "supposing him to be the Gardner."Let me learn to spend a little time each day sitting with Jesus in His role as the Gardener. May we appreciate the beauty of His garden, the new life in all Creation. The risen Lord brings new life in us. *Let us pray* Risen Lord, just as You gave Mary and the other women a mission – to go and tell the other disciples that she has seen the Lord, send us out to go and share that experience or encounter. That is our calling, to bear witness to Your risen presence, Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
01.04.24 Today's gospel. Matthew 28:8-15 8 So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, *“Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers and sisters to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”* 11While they were going, *some of the guard* went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened. *12After the priests had assembled with the elders, they devised a plan to give a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13telling them, “You must say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’* 14If this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15. So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story is still told among the Judeans to this day. *Comment* Truth is what it is. Jesus Christ is Risen, He is Risen indeed Alleluia. No lies or tricks will stop the fact of His resurrection. *Prayer* Lord help us to belief that You are victorious and triumphant over death. We have new life walking in Your Light of resurrection. Amen |
