06.04.24. Today's gospel Mk 16:9 -15 . *The Appearance of Jesus. * Mary Magdalene told the disciples her encounter with Jesus, but they expressed disbelief. *Then the Lord appeared to two of the disciples, * who told others about the experience of the Risen Lord, but still they expressed disbelief. *The Lord appeared to the eleven, * Jesus rebuked their disbelief. The other two were reports brought to the disciples while the third one is the eleven encountering the Risen Lord. The aim is to rebuke those who object to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, correcting their lack of faith and stubborn refusal to believe. *Let us pray. * Risen Lord, supply more evidence to arouse our faith. Your victory over all things is ours. Amen

05.04.24. Today's gospel. John 21:1-14 In the text, Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, the disciples went fishing and they caught nothing the whole night. It was only when Jesus directed them to cast the net into the deep that they caught plenty of fish. Jesus had breakfast with the disciples by the shore. Again, He showed Himself to them. *Let us pray* Lord Jesus Christ, fill our empty life with Your Risen life and nourish our souls with Your Word and Sacrament, the Body and Blood. Invites us to eat: ‘Breakfast is ready!’ to/from the abundant table ready - of fish, food, love, warmth, and great joy. The table where fractured relationships are healed. May we in turn nourish, heal and love those we meet today. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
04.04.24 Today's gospel. Luke 24:36 - 48 Types of faith in the text Luke. 1. Faith that needs assurance. In all our fears, anxieties, and confusion, Jesus stands like a parent to take us into His arms. We live fearful lives and Jesus comes to us to assure us of His peace. *He says peace be with you*. 2. Faith that requires us to share the experience with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Faith that feels into the feelings of others. Christ wants not only to be heard about but to be experienced or encountered on a personal level. *Let us pray* Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, help us, To walk together To talk together To go together on this journey of faith. May we be witnesses to Your Life of new things. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
Wednesday 3rd April 2024 Luke chap 24...verses 13 to 35. The road to Emmaus scripture teaches us that Jesus appears to us when we least expect it..even when we do not recognize him. He is with us..guiding us and showing us the way. It also teaches us that the breaking of bread is an important part of our faith. We remember Jesus through the sacrament of communion, and we also share his love by breaking bread with our family in Christ. Remember no matter how bleak things may seem...there is always hope even when we don't understand everything...we can trust that God has a plan for us. Bottom line...the road to Emmaus is a powerful story that teaches us about Jesus' love for us and the importance of faith. Hope and love. Let us pray. LORD Jesus, we thank you for your faith in us. Guiding and showing us the way in all that we do. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff
02.04.24 Today's gospel. John 20:11-18 Mary saw a man by the tomb of Jesus and "supposing him to be the Gardner."Let me learn to spend a little time each day sitting with Jesus in His role as the Gardener. May we appreciate the beauty of His garden, the new life in all Creation. The risen Lord brings new life in us. *Let us pray* Risen Lord, just as You gave Mary and the other women a mission – to go and tell the other disciples that she has seen the Lord, send us out to go and share that experience or encounter. That is our calling, to bear witness to Your risen presence, Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
01.04.24 Today's gospel. Matthew 28:8-15 8 So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, *“Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers and sisters to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”* 11While they were going, *some of the guard* went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened. *12After the priests had assembled with the elders, they devised a plan to give a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13telling them, “You must say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’* 14If this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15. So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story is still told among the Judeans to this day. *Comment* Truth is what it is. Jesus Christ is Risen, He is Risen indeed Alleluia. No lies or tricks will stop the fact of His resurrection. *Prayer* Lord help us to belief that You are victorious and triumphant over death. We have new life walking in Your Light of resurrection. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
30.03.24 Today's gospel. Mark 16:1-16 Traditionally the Eucharist is not celebrated this morning. So, this gospel text is for the Easter Vigil. We recall how the women went to the tomb of Jesus very early in the morning, on that first day of the week, because they wanted to go and annointed His body. Praise God, they found that He had risen. May we have the zeal and faith of Mary of Magdala and Mary the mother of Jose's about the Risen Lord. *Let us pray* Lord, we look forward to the celebration of this special evening with You Risen and among us. Amen St. Barnabas Anglican, Bluff.
28.03.24 Today's gospel. John 13:1 - 17, 31 - 35 Jesus demonstrates to the disciples what love means by the washing of the feet. The Master does the work of a servant. So He commands them and us to show love in kindness, compassion and supporting the least of our society or families. We're to wash the feet of each other not literally above but in the above ways. Today, the Mother Church celebrates Christ's institution of the *Sacrament of Priesthood* and the *Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.* Pray for priests and their families and continue adoring Christ is the Holy Eucharist. *Let us pray* Our Heavenly Father, Your Son Jesus Christ washed his disciples’ feet as a sign of service and compassion. Show us how to live and love in service and with compassion, for the sake of all your children. Amen. St. Barnabas Anglican Parish, Bluff.
27/03/24 Today's gospel John 13 ver 12 to 32. We must remember that Jesus came from God and is going to God and that God has put complete control into Jesus's hands. But the one who has all the power and glory is the one now washing feet....his power is expressed in self giving LOVE. This act is a reflection of being cleansed and forgiven by Jesus and this is how a Christian should be. Bottom line if Jesus served others then so should we that follow him should serve others with love and kindness.. Let us pray. LORD help us to love our brothers and sisters in Christ..that we are willing to wash their feet and allow them to wash ours..may we do so in tenderness and warmth knowing how gentle you are with us. In Jesus mighty name we pray Amen |
